Reviews
Lovely festive meal with friends at The English House.
Decor is a bit quirky and interesting, but their overall offering of tasty, comfort food at a decent price point with a nice wine menu would would make me come back.
We all opted for the Festive Set Menu ($88 and $108), which I thought was solid value including considering the quality of ingredients used across the 4 courses served. Portion sizes were generous too.
The staff were attentive, helpful and kept the pace of service up throughout our meal - Thank you to the team for an enjoyable meal!
Just had the most amazing meal at Marco Pierre White's restaurant, The English House!
The fish and chips were absolutely incredible - the fish was firm and juicy, succulent and sweet, but the portion was a bit on the smaller side. Didn't get enough of that delicious fish!
And I must admit, 'm not usually a fan of mushy peas, but this time they were served warm and tasted absolutely delicious. And let's not forget about the thrice fried chips - they were good and tasty as well!
Fun fact: Marco Pierre White is the chef who taught Gordon Ramsay how to cook fish and chips, and I can definitely see why! This is by far the best fish and chips I have ever tasted.
If you're in for a treat, definitely check out The English House for some top-notch British cuisine.
The festive menu was perfect, taste were good. 1st time I drank lobster bisque from cup, I am not a fan of peas but it was 1st time I emptied the sides dish consisting of peas and Brussels sprouts as it was really tasty. Service and ambience were also good. Deserved 5 stars rating.
One of the best Prime Black Angus Beef Wellington in the town.
The carefully chopped button mushrooms mixed with high quality truffle oil that spread on top of the lightly seared tenderloin. Creates more textures and dont feel bored by the tenderloin.
It kept the inner of the tenderloin juicy. Even though it looks raw, the temperature definitely hit the most suitable for the tenderloin to maintain the softness.
The baked puff pastry is crispy and made with good butter.
The crispy smoked English duck is good too! Traditional British style, that’s really worth trying.
Amazingly that they are able to do super delicious dim sum too.
The whole interior design was great as the decorations are meaningful and interesting.
Staff are friendly to introduce and recommend the dishes to order and explain the origin of some of the dishes.
Transporting us to a quaint ambience, the english house staff warmly welcomed us.
Special mention to May and Tiffany for attending to my wife's need, even giving her a cushion back rest
The food has a classic look but flavours were intriguing.
They also prepared a complimentary cake to celebrate my birthday (my wife hid that from me:))
The best for us was the apple crumble, a sweet ending
Beef Wellington is outstanding! This is the best me and my husband have tried so far! The beef is so tender and the pastry is crispy and tasty! Fish and chips is nice too! We love the ambiance too, as it’s very relaxed. Will definitely come again.
Food was absolutely amazing & delicious. The tiramisu was a smashing hit in my opinion. Service staff was very attentive & good. However, this cannot be said of the front house service. Rather than directing us to our seats first, they were more obsessed in ensuring that we had closed the front doors properly BEFORE showing us to our seats. Hence a 4 star review.
Had festive menu (88 and 108$ options), appetisers were quite disappointing in terms of presentation and flavour, mains were delicious but the same sides that were great with pork belly were completely clashing with the duck, generous size portions. Desserts were just ok, my husband liked white tiramisu better.Children menu pasta with turkey was delicious but over salted. Eye catching atmosphere, staff were friendly except one older waiter who I seen being rude to kids who sat at the table next to us. Most probably wouldn’t be coming again
